Welcome

Welcome to Egg and Death Journal. The name comes from the novel The Egg and I about a couple who moved to the Olympic Peninsula and started a chicken farm. Operating with little capital and few resources, the author used a single ledger to keep records of both egg production and chicken attrition. What does that have to do with this blog? Not a whole lot. They're both journals I suppose.

Robber Fly Macro

The macro lens was a bit fogged up from the AC to humidity transition.  I'm working on it.
These are ghoulish little cannibal insects but interesting and beautiful in their own way.

Dead Bee?

Eddie has the annoying habit of asking each new person he meets, "Have you ever been stung by a dead bee?"  In response to the other person's inevitable question, Eddie explains, "Even a dead bee can sting you if you step on it, especially if it was mad when it died."  ~From To Have and Have Not
Postscript:  Later I went out to try for a better photo and the bee was gone.  Predator?  ...or maybe it was just napping.  Ever been stung by a napping bee?
